About Mukundi Victoria Ramaite

Mukundi Victoria Ramaite is a South African singer-songwriter based in New York City. Her soulful, faith-inspired music comes back to one theme: resilience.

She jokes that she was born singing. She joined her school choir in the second grade, won her school talent show in the fourth, and wrote her first song at six. Finding chords on the piano made songwriting the way she makes sense of her life. At boarding school, she began formal vocal training and performed her own songs. At 14 she moved to New York, where she got her first home recording setup and began playing live around the city.

Her influences range from her parents' iPod, which ran from Lil Wayne to Andrea Bocelli, to Adele, gospel, choral music and global collections like Putumayo. She has released four singles and collaborated with a major South African artist.

Years of setbacks shaped her most honest work. Through loss and rebuilding, her faith was reignited, and her songs now wrestle with God, love and the fight for what is good. Her debut album, SAINTS: Origins, is on the way, led by the single "Kyoto" in late November. Alongside music, she holds a business degree and is pursuing an MS in Entrepreneurship at NYU.
